Garden Lecture Series

Leslie Parke, contemporary artist and recipient of the Lila Wallace Reader’s Digest Artist-in-Residence grant will present The Artist’s Eye:  An Interpretation of Monet and His Gardens in Giverny, France.  Ms. Parke spent five months at the Claude Monet Foundation and her visually compelling presentation includes photographs of the gardens and surroundings, historical photographs, and paintings.

Exhibitors

A number of San Diego County exhibitors will join us at the Garden, including contemporary artist Leslie Parke, recipient of the Lila Wallace Reader’s Digest Artist-in-Residence grant.  She will present a lecture entitled The Artist's Eye: An Interpretation of Monet and His Gardens in Giverny, France, and will have her paintings on display and for sale.  Information about Ms. Parke and her work can be found at www.leslieparke.com.  In addition, the San Diego Water Color Society will feature their annual Paint-Out, a demonstration of “plein air” water color painting, at the Garden’s Gazebo.

Compost Workshop and Bin Sale

Solana Center for Environmental Innovation will host a compost workshop from 1-2pm and will have compost bins available for sale.  Bins sold at subsidized rates for residents of unincorporated San Diego.

Children’s Activities

  • Helix and Otay Children’s Activity Booth
  • Face Painting

Opportunity Drawing

A variety of water saving and gardening-related prizes will be given away in this much anticipated drawing.  Tickets are on sale before and during the festival.

Entertainment and Awards

The Garden’s amphitheater will be the stage for the 4th-Annual California-Friendly® Landscape Contest awards as well as live musical entertainment throughout the day.
