The Water Conservation Garden COVID-19 Update

With the recent federal announcement and guidelines to stay home through April 30th The Water Conservation Garden will remained closed until further notice.
As the national health crisis evolves, we will continue to assess the situation and announce a safe date for our community to return to The Water Conservation Garden, a place we have all grown to love and cherish.
We, of course, remain committed to providing premier care for our Garden during this time. Staff caring for plants and maintaining other critical systems remain active at The Garden, while practicing hand washing and social distancing. However, the majority of our staff members are working from home.
The Garden’s gates may be closed, but the commitment to our mission does not rest. Currently our team is:
- Developing resources to bring our award-winning Ms. Smarty-Plants™ program online to provide an outlet for learning while children are kept at home.
- Offering one-on-one virtual landscape design consultations.
- Exploring opportunities to host other workshops and classes online.
- Working in The Garden to preserve our 600+ plant species as well as taking care of our tortoises, Tank, Bernie and Mr. Peabody.

In the meantime, public health officials continue to stress that the best way to protect against the spread of viruses is to practice good hygiene and stay home.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds each time.
- Reduce your contact when welcoming others, including handshakes, hugs and high fives
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
